La Liga

La Liga is the top professional football (soccer) division in Spain. Officially known as the Primera División, it was established in 1929 and is organized by the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (LFP). La Liga features 20 teams that compete annually for the championship title, and it is one of the most prestigious football leagues in the world. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Segunda División, allowing the bottom-ranked teams in La Liga to be relegated to the lower division and the top teams in Segunda División to be promoted.
