Football

Football refers to a team sport that is played by two teams of eleven players each. The primary objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. It is known as “soccer” in some countries, particularly in the United States and Canada, to distinguish it from American football. Football is governed internationally by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and features a variety of competitions, the most prestigious of which is the FIFA World Cup.

The sport is characterized by its emphasis on skill, teamwork, and strategy. Players predominantly use their feet to control, pass, and shoot the ball, although they can use other parts of their body except for the arms and hands (with the exception of the goalkeeper). The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with goalposts at each end.

Importantly, football is one of the world’s most popular sports, with millions of fans and players globally, and it possesses significant cultural and social influence in many regions.
