Snooker

Snooker is a cue sport that is played on a rectangular table covered with a green cloth called baize. The game is played with 21 balls: one white cue ball, 15 red balls, and 6 colored balls (yellow, green, brown, blue, pink, and black). The objective is to score points by pocketing the balls in a specific order: players must first pot a red ball, followed by a colored ball, and then continue this sequence. Each type of ball carries a different point value, with red balls worth 1 point and the colored balls ranging from 2 to 7 points.

Players use a cue stick to strike the cue ball, aiming to hit the other balls and pot them into one of the six pockets on the table. Snooker is known for its strategic depth, requiring skillful shot-making, tactical play, and precise positioning of the cue ball for subsequent shots. The game is played internationally, often in professional tournaments, and has a rich history, having evolved from earlier cue sports. A frame is completed when all balls are potted or when a player is declared the winner by leading in points. The game is distinguished by its complex rules and traditions, contributing to its popularity and status as a competitive sport.
